Inside the well-protected borders of DustClan....
Bright green orbs flickered open as the first rays of sunlight found its way into the sheltered den of Nightstar. She welcomed its warmth, bathing in it's glow for a few moments, before getting up and shaking her pelt. Dawn... She thought, slightly annoyed. It seemed the dawn patrol had already left, for she scented fresh tracks leaving the camp. Seeing as they already left, the she-cat padded out of her den and went to the fresh kill pile for an early snack. Since it had been in the shadows for so long, and leafbare had just ended, the meat was a bit cold. Nightstar gnawed on it for a bit before swallowing. Licking her lips, she retreated back into her den.
Underneath the enourmous tree that marked DustClan camp there was a huge underground cave-like pit, in which there were many dens and pretty much the inner camp. It was much shadier and cooler there than outside in the constant glare of the sun. There were a few tunnels, similar to ShadeClan in a way, that provided routes to other locations so cats could travel without being seen from anything above. But they didn't have caves. Almost each den had a tunnel, but that only made about seven. One had to be careful though, there were certain tunnels that led off the side of the cliff, and if one slid through those, they would plunge to certain death. DustClan cats use this to their advantage, since the first thing every kit learns is which tunnel is which. That way, if a rival clan ever enters their camp, they can lead them off track and fall into dangerous tunnels.
It was one of these tunnels that Nightstar made for. She padded through the darkness, her pawsteps making light and echo-y plosh plosh sounds as they padded through the small puddles. The temperature immediately dropped at least 10 degrees once she got under the shade. As light once again began to fill her vision, the she-cat emerged in a field of dried grass. She looked back, and even she herself could not see the entrance to the tunnel she came out of. Very well concealed... she thought to herself. But Nighstar knew where the approximate location was, and could always go back through that tunnel.
A trace of field mice caught her nose. The scent came from her east, near the border of SunClan. She better catch it before it crossed the border into their territory. With a tremendous leap, the cat pounced on one and killed it with a fierce bite. Leaving that mouse behind, she made for the other three. A quick lash of her paw and another one dropped. They were scurrying fast. Nightstar bounded stealthily after them, but it was only force of habit, since the mice had already found out she was there. She managed to get one under her claws, but the other scurried safely past the border, and Nightstar could chase it no more. "Fox dung!" she cursed, and went back to pick up the three catches.
Once she got back to camp, Nightstar dropped all of her fresh kill onto the once dwindling pile and emerged in the morning light. She lay her head on her front paws, resting in the warm glow.
